Because no one likes paying more than they have to.

There are several things you can do to lower the cost of your automobile or car insurance.

1. Look for competitive pricing (price shouldn’t be the only factor when considering an insurance company, having the best coverage and claims service should be considered too).

An independent agent works with many companies and can provide you comparative rates and ensure that you are getting the same coverage. The benefit is that Independent agents do not have one company to offer, they can “shop” around to get you the best prices!

2. Change your deductible. By raising your deductible you may lower the cost of your automobile insurance by almost 10%.

Remember, you must be able to pay the deductible amount in case of a claim!!
Some other ways to save include:
  • Multiple cars under the same policy
  • Packaging a homeowners/renters policy with your auto insurance (with the same company of course)
  • Group/association membership discounts
  • Education levels
  • Occupation
  • Loss free discounts (claim free)
  • Safe driving course
  • Continuous insurance
  • Good student
Something customers tend to forget is that insurance companies consider credit scores and driving records when determining the price of insurance.

Safe driving can pay off in more than one way. Save money by avoiding accidents and violations. That way the insurance company will not surcharge you!

Some companies also give discounts for the length of time that you spend with them. Sometimes switching companies frequently will make you miss out on those discounts. When in doubt, ask your agent!
For families that are thinking of adding a child to their policy listen up!
There are special discounts available to cushion the upcharge for a youthful driver!

Some of those discounts are taking a driving training course and being a good student! It is important to talk to your agent about all possible discounts that might be available and which ones can apply to you!

I didn't realize that you may be able to receive a discount if you spend an extended period of time with them. I remember my wife mentioning how she would like to find some affordable car insurance before we buy a vehicle that we will use to take our son to school each day. Maybe we should find a quality long-term solution to our insurance needs.

I had no idea that your auto insurance could be reduced by nearly 10% when you increase your deductible. My uncle needs to find some car insurance so that he will be able to drive his truck to work every day, but he needs to find some affordable coverage since his wife is currently pregnant and will not be able to help pay bills for a few months. Maybe he should consider his budget as he looks for an insurance agent that can help him.

It was really helpful when you said that the only factor to consider shouldn't be the pricing. My brother was telling me last night about how he and his fiancé are wanting to look into finding their first car to get together, and they want to make sure that they can get the right insurance for it. I'll make sure to pass these tips along to them as they search for auto insurance to get.

It is good to know that independent insurance agencies can get you the best prices. My brother needs to get insurance for his new car. I'll suggest that he find a reputable independent firm.

It was really interesting when you mentioned that you can save money on auto insurance if you put multiple vehicles in the same policy. As far as I know, you can also reduce insurance costs by driving safely and avoiding accidents. I would think that your insurance costs will go down the longer you go without getting into an accident.
